Last week on my Twilight journal I left off with the baseball game.  If you missed it go back and see what I have written!

At the end of the baseball game Alice sees more vampires coming.

I have to say I really love the relationship between Alice and Edward.  Since she can see things and he can read minds they understand and protect each other well.  So when Alice suddenly has a vision Edward know from reading Alice’s thought before anyone else knows.

When Laurent, Victoria and James show up everything becomes so intense and continues this way for me.  There are just a few things I want to point out.  First of all the way that each one of the Cullen’s (with the exception of Rosalie) rallies around to protect Bella.  She becomes the most important thing to them!

Is Bella worth it?

The other thing that really jumped out at me happened when everyone was leaving the Cullen’s house to play their part of the plan to save Bella.  Edward embraced and kissed Bella in front of everyone then was gone. Then everyone was gone and Jasper knowing Bella is feeling tells her she is wrong, that she is worth-it!  Okay who doesn’t want to know they are worth being saved!  As I thought about this I realized how often we are shown by the action of others that we are “worth it” but we don’t even get it!  The difference is when someone says it, you realize you do have worth!  At the same time here Bella is thinking very much like a human and worrying about everyone else getting hurt because of her.  I couldn’t imagine the guilt I would feel if someone got hurt because they were saving me!

When Alice, Jasper and Bella are in the hotel in Phoenix, time seems to blend together. I wish the author Stephenie Meyer would have gone into a little bit more detail about what happened between Carlisle, Emmett, Edward and James.  How did he escape?  Why is it that James stayed back far enough that Edward couldn’t read his mind?  Did James know Edward could read minds?  How did James know they went to Phoenix?  How did he know where Bella’s mom lived?  So many questions!

One of my favorite things in this section of the book is when Bella was talking  to Alice and Jasper in the hotel after she woke up. Bella was so concerned that one of the Cullen’s would be hurt especially Edward. Jasper tells her she is worrying about the wrong things and that they would not get hurt.  Then Alice stops Bella and says “It’s been almost a century that Edward’s been alone.  Now he’s found you.  You can’t see the changes that we see, we who have been with him for so long. Do you think any of us want to look into his eyes for the next hundred years if he loses  you?”  What do I have to say about that? Wow!  What love the Cullen’s have for Edward and all they want for him to be happy and they see how happy he is with Bella.  Because of that they will do everything in there power to save her for Edward.

Then when Edward calls and talks to Bella.  The words they exchange were heart warming and heart wrenching at the same time!  He is coming Bella!!

Last week I left off on the Twilight Journals sharing my thought about Edward and Bella’s Sunday at the Cullen’s.

What is next?

It was great that Edward made Bella tell Charlie that he was her boyfriend.  I am not quite sure why it was so important to Edward though.  I really enjoyed how Edward prepared Bella to ride on his back again!  She became so relaxed and mesmerized by him that she had know choice.

I have to admit that I understand why she gets out of control when Edward kisses her. There is so much chemistry between the two once he kisses her she loses all control!   You can see how Edward is so torn at times.  He can’t be without her but he wants to keep her safe from him!  Bella was great a taking command of the situation after her ride on his back.  He kept going on about how he was mad at himself and she was so brave.  She just stopped him.  Then he said “I love you” for the first time!

You know I was on a forum the other day and the thread title was something like this: Does Bella love Edward more than he loves her? I have to say throughout this book I am constantly seeing out they both has such great admiration for each other.  Not for the same things, just like in all relationships.  He admires her for her courage, bravery and trust.  She admires him for what his is and has to overcome just to with her.  Not to mention his is perfect in everything he does.  The Love is the same. They both love each other so much but it is shown in different ways.  I believe Bella is looked at as immature because she doesn’t always see the big picture as Edward does, but who really would.  The Vampire life is all new to her.  I think they have a love that goes beyond the physical attraction.

So once they got the baseball game I thought it was great how the Cullens involved Bella and Esme really made Bella feel great.  All of them were great except Rosalie of course. It makes sense that they would have to play baseball during a thunderstorm.

The book really changed directions at the end of the baseball game.  I felt like things were moving so fast.  I believe it was because of the fear of what would happen next. I obviously know that Bella is going to be okay and I am pretty sure that her Dad is but how that happens is another story.  I will cover the hunt in my next journal entry!

Before I go into my thoughts about this part of the book, I have to say everyone loves these books it seems.  Have taken the book with me to different appointments I have had and everyone asks me: How do you like it?  Have you see the movie?  Is this the first time you have read it?.  It seems as if everyone has a story to tell about the Twilight saga!  I am amazed with peoples interest in me reading the book!

Last time I left off where in Twilight, Edward and Bella spend Saturday evening together.  If you have missed any of the previous Twilight Journals here are the links:

After a wonderful Saturday together Bella wakes up to see Edward there with her. He had changed his clothes which he had to explain.  They spend the morning together and he takes her to meet his family, the Cullen’s.  Bella is understandably nervous.  Not only is she meeting Edward’s family but they just happen to be all vampires!  When they arrive Bella is pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome she receives.  Especially from Esme!  But what is up with Rosalie?  What is her problem?  I know Edward said she is self-absorbed but really?!

Okay, can Edward be more romantic? He wrote a beautiful song for Bella!  What girl doesn’t want to have a song written for her!  Edward shows her around and gives her a history of Carlisle.  This is very interesting and if I were Bella I would have asked about it long before now!

I think my favorite part of this section is being in Edward’s room. I love how he admits to Bella that he is not only relieved she knows everything but it makes him happy! Also I know Bella was a little frightened by Edward’s playfulness but I loved it!  He was being him and yet he was also helping Bella again understand the seriousness of being with him! I loved how he felt so comfortable that around Alice and Jasper he could show affection to Bella.

Next time I am going to cover the baseball game.  I didn’t want to include that in this post since there is a lot going on during the baseball game!

Saturday with Edward in Edward’s meadow is one of my favorite parts of the books so far.  There is so much that happens and such a turn in the relationship between Edward and Bella!

Okay I have to admit it I love how Bella admires Edward’s chest and face.  I can only imagine how truly beautiful the Cullen’s are.  I don’t think the movies do them justice! On the way to Edward’s meadow he continues to badger her with questions.  When they reach the meadow Bella is over come with the beauty there. Suddenly Edward is gone.

Edwards Meadow is a sanctuary

Here in the meadow Edward finally, Finally lets his guard down and shows himself to Bella, first in the sunlight and then they finally touch!!  Bella starts by only touching his arm with her finger then his hand is in hers.  She is so mesmerized by how Edward sparkles. The chemistry between the two is just electric!  Then Edward loses it for a few minutes.  He runs off, shows Bella how strong and fast he is.  I get it, he wants her to truly understand how she should be in danger!  What he doesn’t realize is that she knows she “should” be in danger  but she can’t feel it!

Edward admits his desire to take her life.

Edward tries to explain how much his is drawn to her.  How he had to resist taking her life the first day she came to school and how he ran away.  Bella finally understands a little when he describes her as his personal brand of herione.  He knows she will never complete understand.  Edward explains a lot about his behavior so that Bella knows where he was coming from.

He also admits how he truly feels about her. I love how he says “Your are the most important thing to me now. The most important thing to me ever.”  Then Bella responds with “…I’m here…which, roughly translated, means I would rather die than stay away from you.” Okay so now I am in my thirties, a lot of people say that these books really influence teenagers.  This part of the book is heavy with emotion and feelings and I will tell you I don’t doubt that teenagers can feel these kind of feelings.  I hope my kids don’t feel this way about someone when they are teens.  Let me tell you why.  When you feel deep emotion such as love like this it causes you to act irrationally, at times.  I am not saying always but teenagers have not had the life experience that even twenty-one year olds have.  I just hope my kids experience this a few years out of their teens.

Yet when I read this part of the book I dream of being this age and having my first love!  I guess it is because of the newness and excitement that it brings!

No make-out sessions for Bella and Edward.

I love how Bella and Edward begin to touch one another.  It is so innocent and guarded.  There is no big  make-out scene.  I really love that.  They care so much for each other they are careful about everything they do.

Time to leave Edward’s meadow.

As it is getting dark Edward decides he is going to show Bella how he travels through the forest.  She is placed on his back and he runs.  They are to her truck in seconds and she was sick!!  Then as she is recovering on the ground Edward decides to kiss her for the first time.  What does Bella do?  She attacks him.  Grabs him and won’t let go.  I think this is pretty hilarious!

I am going to leave off right here for now.  This section of the Twilight book was full of emotion for me.  I really enjoyed it!

I have been keeping a Twilight journal for a little while now. It has been very enjoyable and I have a lot more to share with you!

I left off where Bella finds out what Edward really is on the way back from Port Angeles.

Alright when Edward shows up the day after Port Angeles at Bella’s house.  It reminded me  of a fairy-tell or a fantasy!  This is what I dreamed of in high school.  I would have loved having my crush show up!  This is why this book is loved by women of all ages!

So I love that Edward tells Bella what Jessica wants to know. I think the chemistry between Bella and Edward is very evident this day.  Edward reads Jessica’s mind and tells Bella that Jessica is going to ambush her in math class.  I really enjoyed how Edward told Bella what questions Jessica would ask.  Are secretly dating him and How do you feel about him?  Edward just like any human wants to know how she feels about him!!  Then he tells Bella that he will be listening  when she tells Jessica how much she feels. I feel that this gives Bella more confidence and a lack of inhibition to not be guarded in her feelings for Edward.

Then when Edward shows up outside of Spanish to get her.  Okay that is another High School dream moment.  What a great thing for Edward to be irritated about.  Bella believes she “likes” Edward in a much stronger way then he likes her. Edward is gets really upset at this. He likes/loves her on a different level and Bella doesn’t understand this at all!  I believe part of this is because of the fact she is truly 17!  He has been 17 for a while!  Edward has been alive for who knows how long and he has learned from experience and maturity that love is about protecting and being self-sacrificing. Bella doesn’t understand true danger like Edward does.

So the one thing I really don’t like is they don’t touch! They need to touch.  Hold hands or, rub shoulders or hug, just something! I really enjoyed the time they are getting to know each other.  Edward has this desire to know every little part of her.  So he spends the time with her and asks all the questions.

I will leave off where Edward says goodbye to Bella on Friday afternoon. He and Alice must hunt in preperation for his time alone with Bella.  It is really clear that they both have a difficult time being apart from one another!

The last Twilight Journal entry I left off after Bella figured out that Edward is not a superhero but a vampire.  I pick up with her at school.  She was really anxious and excited to see Edward at school the next day.  Once again she is disappointed because Edward is not at school again!!!   Okay this is one thing that I think is really interesting because when I was in High school several years ago, (in Washington) I got sick a lot and it was a real issue with the school!  So how is it that the Cullen’s can miss school on sunny days (I know there are not many of them),  for their hunting trips and just for the heck of it?!  Oh well!  They are vampires and can get away with everything!

On Tuesday night Bella is off with Jessica and Angela to find dresses in Port Angeles. I felt like it was predictable that Edward showed up I am not saying that it was bad but good.  I love that he is coming to her rescue all the time.  It goes back to how a book fulfills a need for me to meet my expectations.

The restaurant was perfect.  Having a beautiful waitress only have eyes for Edward but he only gave Bella the time of day. I really loved how Edward was so honest with Bella! Through the car ride home as well.  He didn’t hold back.

He totally wants to run Bella off because of how hard things would be between a vampire and a human.

The question I have is Why can’t he read Bella’s mind? What is different about her? How does he know that her number is up and why did he decide to come back after a week and save her?

I don’t know if these questions will be answered but I want to keep reading to find out.

I left off on my Twilight Journal when Edward was warming up to Bella. Bella had been invited to go to La Push with her other High School friends.  She had invited Edward to go but he declined.  Bella goes to the beach with her mind on Edward.  Not surprising after the encounters she has had with him thus far.

While at the beach Bella  is trying to have a good time and not get hurt.  She remembers the request that Edward made for her to be careful and not get hurt while he is away! She is doing her best to do so and next thing she knows here come the kids from the reservation.

She remembers Jacob Black, Charlies friend Billy’s son.  They start talking and Jacob is warm and friendly but still a few years younger than Bella.  In private as they walk together on the beach Jacob tells Bella of some Quileute legends. The legend includes some of his people becoming werewolves.  Many years ago the werewolves came across “cold ones”.  They made a treaty that the “cold ones” would not come onto Quileute land and they would not kill wolves. He then revealed that the “cold one” were blood drinkers and that the Cullen’s were the same “cold ones” his ancestors made the treaty with!

Here is my issue with this part of the book, yes Bella knows who Jacob Black is.  There is a connection between their fathers and Bella use to play with his older sisters when she was young.  All that being said, Why, Why would Jacob essentially give Bella critical details about his people being werewolves and the Cullen’s being vampires. Not only that he gave her this information not long after seeing her again!

Of course this is important to the story but would someone really do this?

After Bella’s trip to La Push Bella doesn’t want to have to deal with this at all! She tries to forget it until she falls asleep and has a nightmare.   In the dream Jacob becomes a werewolf and him and Edward are about to fight.  Edward is beckoning Bella to come to him to trust him.  Once she wakes up she is determined to do some investigating on the Internet to really find out if Edward is  a vampire.  I can only imagine what it felt like to think that this legend was true that Edward is a vampire! This is really hard for her to deal with.

Bella was really smart to just get out of the house and think!  It is so hard to deal with a bunch of information when it is being thrown at you.  Sometimes it is best to get
away and think.  That is exactly what she did!  She went out to the woods and thought about everything.  Determining that she was going to do.  Her conclusion was that even in the dream she realized she was upset about Jacob attacking Edward. She cared about Edward already. That realization was the clincher!

I wonder how Bella really resigns herself to Edward. Yes, she follows her heart and how she truly feels.  The question is, is she feeling safe with Edward because of lust or infatuation?  Edward is very mysterious or is it her intuition that she knows that Edward will keep her safe?

So many things to think about!  I am so glad I don’t have to be her position.  That is all for this entry!  Keep watching for my Twilight Journal to continue!

Alright are you ready for my thoughts?  I have a lot of them.  I really am enjoying the Twilight book and it seems to have taken hold of me.

Let’s get started with my thoughts on the next part of the Twilight book. First off, Edward is so confusing.  He saves Bella from being crushed, then he won’t talk to her for a month.  Then all of a sudden he is talking to her.  I can totally understand where Bella is coming from when he does talk to her again.  Nothing seems to make sense to her.  He flip flops and she needs to protect herself from him.  Now he is telling her it is better that they are not friends.  What is up with that? Of course I understand he is a vampire but Bella doesn’t get it at all.

Edward seems to be around when Mike, Eric and of course Tyler asks Bella to the dance.  I really like the part where Edward blocks her in so Tyler can ask her out.  I would be so mad but it was pretty funny!

I am really enjoying seeing the obsession that is happening to Bella when it comes to Edward.  I guess in part because I was like this in high school.  I would obsess over every move a guy I liked, would make.  With Bella it happens without her wanting it but yet she does it anyway.  She thinks of him.  She dreams of him.  She can’t do anything without him interrupting her activities in some way!  Edward is such a mystery and she is so drawn to him.  All he has to do is show her that she can trust him and then it is all over for her.  She will give herself to him completely.

Seattle.

It is amazing to me how moody Edward is and how Bella can see it.  She is pretty observant with Edward.  I think the first step to getting Bella to let her guard down was Edward asking Bella if he could take her to Seattle. For me this is significant because it brings me back to high school again, literally.  Seattle is where I went on weekends and yes where I went with guys I liked on occasion. I can imagine what it would be like for Edward and Bella to go alone to a great city like Seattle!  So I am very excited for them to go to Seattle together!  But again in the book Edward gives her mixed signals.  Let me take you to Seattle but you really should stay away from me!

Edward’s change of heart.

Okay so far this the best part of the Twilight book.  When Bella goes to lunch and Edward is singling her out.  He is by himself and not his family.  He wants her to sit with him alone.  This makes my heart and my stomach do flip flops!  Isn’t this exactly what any girl would want.  A gorgeous guy that is such a mystery wants you to sit alone with him at lunch!  Then Edward says “…I got tired of trying to stay away from you.” I really liked how they bantered.  Edward tried again to get Bella to understand that he is dangerous and she felt it but couldn’t deny how she felt drawn to him.

Biology

Edward skipped class but was right there when Bella needed him.  Edward definitely has a way of getting what he wants.  He was able to get him and Bella excused from school and take Bella home.  Some more great alone time.  I am all for that.

That is it so far…

I am loving it and I want to read more!  I love the chemistry between Bella and Edward.  Even thought for whatever reason he thinks they are bad for each other, they can’t seem to stay away from each other.  They are like magnets!

I am reading the Twilight book for the first time.  Since it is my first time reading it, I am keeping a Twilight Journal to share with you my thoughts and feelings about what I read.

After I wrote my post the other day, I got started right away on the Twilight book. I was really excited because I wanted to know what was so great about it!

The first chapter.

The first thing I took notice of is Bella moving to Washington from Phoenix. I have to tell you I grew up in Washington state.  I didn’t grow up on the Olympic peninsula but I grew up in western Washington not too far from it.  I understand what Bella is talking about when she says how depressing the rain is!  But on sunny days it is the best place to live! I also have family and friends in the Phoenix area.  What a drastic change this can be.  The next thing that I didn’t expect is the introduction of Edward Cullen.  He was so odd.  Why in the world would you act that way to someone you just met?  He was so cold!  I totally understand why Bella can’t stop thinking about him! He left quite an impression.

A side note:

Okay, just to help you understand a little about me.  When I read a book I personalize it.  I am not sure if all people do this, but this is a way for me to escape from my life (not that my life is terrible).  It becomes a sort of fantasy for me.  So as I continue to review the Twilight book I will also share my feelings about how it relates to me. Now back to the book.

Edward’s Absence.

Now Bella comes to school expecting to see Edward all weird and scary, like he was the first day.  I can only imagine her fear but as the day goes on, just like her, I would be anxious to see him again.  Especially after all the rest of the guys in the school drooled over her!  It is interesting that she felt relief he wasn’t there but knew she was the cause of his absence.

Edward Returns.

When Bella and Edward have their first conversation after his week long absence it is very interesting.  Here she was so afraid of him and yet she spills her guts to him! She
is so drawn to him and yet cautious.  Edward’s intensity really makes Bella self-conscience and aware of her inadequacies. He, in his way, wants her to let him in and she is not sure why.  This totally makes sense because if she lets him in he has the power to hurt her. And who is he really?

The Car Accident.

Edward saves Bella in a miraculous way. He held a van away so that she didn’t get crushed.  I know that he has special powers but of course she doesn’t know this!  There are a few things that bother me at this point.  Yes, Bella is a bit confused as to how Edward got to her so fast and held the van off.  The thing I don’t get is she wasn’t very grateful for what he did.  Maybe that is just me but in addition to wanting to know how he got to her so quickly, I would be thanking him profusely!  So not only that, why isn’t anyone questioning why Edward is not hurt?

That is all I have read so far. After reading this much I am hooked.  Let me tell you why.  I am as curious about Edward as Bella is.  What is the deal with this guy who flips on a dime!  Does he like her or hate her.  Also Bella doesn’t seem like the normal teenager.  She actually reminds me a lot of myself in high school.  She is very reflective and thinks about things an awful lot.  I have heard from a lot of people how Bella was just selfish and immature.  From what I see of her so far I think she is more mature than people give her credit for.  I am really excited to give you my next synopsis of what I read in the Twilight book.

Have you kept a Twilight Journal?  Most people haven’t. I have never read the Twilight Saga.

I have avoided it for a long time.  I am not one to “follow the crowd” but I am very curious about why everyone is so interested in it. For several years now I have gone back and forth whether I should start the Twilight series!  In my mind it was going to be an investment of time and emotions.  Of course the first thing I thought about was how long each book was!  For heavens sakes they are really big!

What else kept me from reading the Twilight series?

I had heard mixed feelings about it.  Most everyone liked it in one way or another but I also heard that people really became invested emotionally in the books.  I am someone who reads a book for pleasure, a way to get away and to dream.  I become very emotionally invested.  So I had to question whether or not I was going to take that time away from my life and my children (I have four) to get sucked into a few books.  But the draw to the books has been strong.  I am always looking for a good series to read so after talking with friends and relatives I concluded I would read the series.

I am actually excited!

Now that I have made the decision to move forward.  I am anxious to see what people are talking about.  I am going to start reading the Twilight Saga and…I am going to record my thought here.  It will essentially be my Twilight Journal.  You will probably gain some real insight on who I am and how the book has affected me.  I will also be sharing the questions that I have as I read different parts of the books.  This will definitely be an experience that you will want to follow!

My Twilight Journal will breakdown into chapters sometimes and then at other times it will be big chunks of the book. I will share how I feel about each of the sections and what I do and don’t like about what is happening!

I hope you will follow me on this journey! My Twilight Journal will be enlightening for me and if you have read the Twilight saga books already it may give you a different perspective on them.

I am off to read the first few chapters!
